Ballyfermot Travellers Action Project, on behalf of the Family Matters
Initiative are seeking to recruit an experienced FAMILY DEVELOPMENT
WORKER as part of the team to deliver the ABC programme with the
Traveller community in Ballyfermot. The Family Matters Initiative
works under four thematic strands:
* Oral Language Development
* Parent and Family Support
* Children and Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing
* Parenting- Infant, toddler and early years? supports

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

CONTRACT: One year rolling contract subject to funding
HOURS OF WORK: full time post (**Apply on the website** hours per

ROLE SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity to continue the work of the ABC Family Matters
programme with the Traveller Community in Ballyfermot. The Family
Development Worker will work in partnership with the broad community
of Traveller parents and young children in the Ballyfermot area to
assist in supporting parents as the primary care giver, to support
their children reach their full educational, health, social and
emotional development potential. In addition, s/he will work more
intensively with a defined number of parents whom have younger
children and assist with their specific needs S/he will through
universal and targeted approaches implement culturally appropriate
evidence based engagement with Traveller parents and their children,
by supporting access, uptake and participation of Traveller children
and families in early years and primary education, speech and language
services and other relevant supports and services to meet their
identified needs.
S/he will work to enhance the capacity of services to inform, develop
and provide culturally appropriate supports and services for Traveller
families in the Ballyfermot area.
